Description
This course is designed to provide elementary education majors with the instructional strategies needed to plan and implement a social studies program in which children are actively involved in the discipline. History, geography and other social science disciplines are used to promote students' abilities to make informed decisions as citizens of a culturally diverse democratic society and an interdependent world. Early Field Experience is required. Must be taken concurrently with EDUC 382: Methods of Teaching Reading and Language Arts for the Developing Reader. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Teacher Education Program.
