Description
This course delves into the dynamic intersection of advocacy and writing as powerful tools for social change and empowerment within social work practice. Students will learn to advocate for justice effectively and challenge oppression on behalf of marginalized individuals and communities, both through direct action and the strategic use of language. We will focus on developing a robust toolkit of advocacy skills, encompassing communication strategies, policy analysis, and community organizing, while simultaneously exploring the power of writing as a vehicle for self-expression, advocacy, and give voice to silenced narratives. This class is appropriate for non-social work students.
