Description
This course explores the power of writing as a tool for social change, self-expression, and advocacy. Students will learn to harness the power of language to advocate for justice, challenge oppression, and give voice to marginalized communities. We’ll examine diverse forms of writing – from personal essays and poetry to op-eds and social media campaigns – and develop skills in storytelling, persuasive writing, and ethical representation. Students will be encouraged to find their unique voice and contribute to a more just and equitable world through the written word. Students will develop their writing skills across various genres (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, drama) while examining social justice issues and learning to use their voices for advocacy and empowerment. Through reading, writing exercise, workshops, and community engagement.
